In this universal perspective, our problems, targets, achievements, and worries are seen against the backdrop of galaxies, physics, and the laws of nature. It’s a way of asking: What truly matters from the widest, most objective point of view?

Zooming-Out to the universe’s point of view doesn’t make life meaningless – it helps us hold it more lightly, with more clarity, humility, and wonder. It also reminds us that none of us, and no team or organisation, is the centre of the universe.

Ways in

This dimension is about stepping into:

  • The universe’s point of view
  • Laws of nature and physics
  • Objective reality beyond personal opinions
  • Our tiny yet meaningful place in the cosmos
  • Cosmic humility and perspective
  • Remembering that no one is the centre of the universe, not me and not my team
  • Keeping the people we serve, and the wider community, in view

Questions to help Zoom-Out in the universe dimension

  • How does this look from the point of view of the universe?
  • What are the objective facts, separate from your opinions or emotions?
  • Is there a law of the universe that says this should not happen, or only a rule you have made?
  • In the scale of stars, planets, and galaxies, how big is this problem really?
  • What does this teach you about being human in a vast, ever-changing universe?
  • What is within your control here, and what is simply the way things are?
  • What would an impartial observer, with no stake in this, conclude?
  • Who is this really for, and what do they need?
  • Are you treating your view, or your team’s view, as the centre of the universe here?
  • Could a change of perspective solve this faster than a big change?
